check 11/10 daily news for possible story

Postby jaegreene on November 10th, 2008, 12:59 am

hey guys,

after training with ty, gabe and crew at city hall for a couple hours we roled down to the art museum. while we were training a woman approached me and asked my name, age and what i was doing.

her name was rachel playe from the daily news and it was a slow news day so they sent her out to find something interesting at the art museum. what she found was me, mohammed, and terrance scaling the walls and doing some drops. she said we were the most interesting thing she saw all day and asked to interview us.

she also shot a bunch of pics which she will be emailing me, so i'll share once i get em.

she said the story may be in the daily news tomorrow if her editor decides to run it, so if you get a chance check out tomorrows paper, could be some pics and a write up on parkour/freerunning.

Nice job guys! Yeah those types of stories are called fillers. The less qualified reporters wander around and find small stories so that when the major layout of the paper is done, if there's any gaps, they put these little articles in it. A good idea is to get her phone number, or tell her to give anyone else who's interested in what you do your phone number. People in the press jump on parkour, because it's an extremely interesting thing. What you really want is a full page story. HawaiiPK got a huge boost in interest after we got an article that took up the front and second page of the local section.

Again, congrats!
