Vault box plans

Vault box plans

Postby AK-SHUN on June 5th, 2009, 12:37 pm

Hey all,

i wanna build a vault box like the ones u see in the pics from primal fitness's gym. ive written mark toorock a few times and he never gets back to me (where's the love?). i'm wondering if anyone has plans/blueprints for building a vault box or if anyone knows where i can find them.

the fearless hyenas stunt team have a live demo scheduled for june 21 and we need a portable vault box to bring with us.

all help is greatly appreciated and i'll even offer a free supernatural gym session or two for the person who hooks me up.

thanks

Let me look around.... I'll update this post in a lil bit....

Okay, here is one link to make a 'Parcube': http://www.americanparkour.com/content/view/536/317/

That's okay, but I've seen some pretty nice vault boxes that look like saw horses, I'll look for that now...

Okay, I understand that it's not plans but someone put up this design for a vault box: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... 59bb5a712f

Look at it in the 3D view. All you need for a vault box is a basic understanding of carpentry, and you should be good. I've made quarterpipes before, and I think this would be 100 times easier.

LOOK HERE!!!! I frequent the Cali forums a lot, mostly PKCali.com, but SF Parkour has a whole thread on building stuff here: http://www.sfparkour.com/forum/showthread.php?t=900

Hope that helps!

Building a wooden box with enough structural integrity to handle what we do is pretty straight-forward. I'd say the biggest issue is traction/surface so that the box has maximum grip on all sides for best training conditions. I know there are spraypaint-type coatings as was mentioned and used in the APK tutorial, and there's a sheet-coating stuff that's like sandpaper and tar that's used in waterparks and stuff to provide traction on otherwise slippery surfaces like stairs.

If you've ever watched "Built To Shred" on FUEL TV, they devote their time to using old junkyard crap and a healthy dose of plywood to make skateboarding obstacles and ramps etc., then bust out the boards and conquer. The same principle applies here, I think even the most scheisty of homebuilt "Parcubes" would be infinitely awesome for training.
